Another String Of Dumpster Fires Lit In Sacramento
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A dumpster fire torched the side of a gas station mini-mart overnight, another in a rash of small fires crews have had to put out this week.
Firefighters were called to the Sinclair Gas Station on the corner of El Camino and Mission Avenues a little before 2 a.m. Crews quickly moved the dumpster away and saved the building.
Despite some minor roof damage, there was no damage inside the store.
The fire was one of three small dumpster fires firefighters battled within a span of an hour: the second fire happening around 2:30 a.m. at 4515 Marconi Avenue and the third fire happening at 4620 Marconi around 2:45 a.m.
This is the second rash of overnight garbage fires this week.
Early Tuesday morning, a total of nine fires were reported in a 20-minute period between 1:40 a.m. and 1:57 a.m.
The majority of the fires occurred in the area of 55th Street between Folsom Boulevard and E Street, according to Sacramento Fire Department spokesperson Roberto Padilla.
Aside from a fence being burned, the fires were contained to the cans.
There have been no damage to homes and no one has been injured.
