Fire Burns Vacant Restaurant In South Sacramento Overnight
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Firefighters in South Sacramento are checking for hot spots after putting out a fire that damaged parts of a taqueria overnight.
The fire happened at around 2:30 a.m. at Pancho Villa Taqueria on Stockton Boulevard near Lawrence Drive.
When firefighters arrived, they found flames coming from the back of the building. In addition to the exterior, two interior rooms were also damaged.
"It was good that they saw it when they were driving by. Being on the back of the building, you can drive by on Stockton Boulevard all night long and not see things. So, it was good that someone did spot the smoke when they did," said Jonathan Williams, a spokesperson for the Sacramento City Fire Dept.
Damage to the restaurant was relatively minor. It is expected to reopen soon.
The parking lot behind the restaurant is shared with Kmart.
The fire is under investigation.
Pancho Villa Taqueria was shuttered eight months ago.
