Firefighter Rescued During House Fire
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- A firefighter had to be rescued while battling a house fire in North Sacramento.
Homeowner Ausbon Johnson said he was sleeping when a loud bang shook his Norwood Avenue house, starting a fire in his garage.
"It blew the door open, hit the wall then it woke me up, then I got out through the back door," Johnson said.
When Johnson attempted to run back into his home to save his two dogs, neighbors restrained him.
One firefighter became disoriented while extinguishing the fire inside the home and had to be pulled out of a window. He did not suffer significant injuries.
Investigators are looking at electrical problems as a possible cause for the fire, which completely destroyed the home.
Both of the homeowners dogs died in the fire.
The Red Cross is helping the homeowner find a place to stay.
