Fire Crews Starting Prescribed Burns In Lake Tahoe Today

   STATELINE, Nev. (AP) -- Forest Service crews are launching a pair of prescribed burns on different parts of national forest land at Lake Tahoe.

   Both are set to begin Thursday. One is near the Kingsbury Grade above Stateline on the southeast side of the lake. The other is above the Rubicon Bay on the southwest shore in California.

   Forest Service officials say smoke likely will be visible over the lake. The projects are designed to clear out underbrush and help reduce wildfire threats. Both projects are subject to weather conditions.
