FBI Has Tall Requirements For Cyberagents

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — This undercover candidate is on track to take on America's newest threat for the Federal Bureau of Investigation—international cyber criminals.

He's an attorney with a degree in biology and finance hoping to make the jump from his high-paying job at a large technology firm to became a government man.

"He's giving up a lot," said FBI special agent Steve Dupre. "We are in desperate need of them to help carry out our mission."

The FBI isn't looking for just any hacker.

"If a person is involved in unethical hacking they are probably not going to be a viable candidate for the FBI," he said.

The bureau needs more. You're pushed to the limits to even qualify to be a cyberagent. You must be a U.S. citizen between 23 and 37 with a four-year degree from an accredited college or university and a clean record. You must also be physically fit and blend into the shadows of the cyber underworld.

"You have to understand the lingo. You have to talk the talk and walk the walk," Dupre.

The clandestine candidate laid it all on the line on Friday to fulfill his FBI dream. It was his last shot at the fitness exam after failing the previous to. The third time was the charm.

His next stop is the FBI academy in Virginia. Once he graduates, he will officially be a special cyberagent.
