Father, Daughter Escape Burning Plane After Crash In Tuolumne County

TUOLUMNE COUNTY (CBS13) – A pilot and his daughter escaped with only minor injuries after their plane crashed in Tuolumne County and burst into flames, according to the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department.

Tuolumne County deputies and other emergency personnel were notified of a possible plane crash at or near Columbia Airport just after 12:15 p.m.

They found the plane in thick brush next to Pioneer Park where it crash landed after over shooting the run way.

The plane burst into flames and burned down to it's frame.

The pilot, 53-year-old Timothy Klingaman of Arizona and his 20-year-old daughter Kendall were able to escape the burning plane by breaking out the windows and crawling free.

Both suffered minor burns but refused medical treatment.

Fire fighters were able to douse the flames before they spread.
