Father And Daughter Arrested In Lottery Scam
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Police say a father and his adult daughter convinced a mentally impaired man to give them nearly $25,000, telling him he'd won the lottery.
Riverside police investigators say 50-year-old Sammy George and 31-year-old Cindy Elsner were arrested on Saturday and were booked for investigation of fraud, grand theft and obtaining money under false pretenses.
Sgt. David Amador says in a news release that the father and daughter told the 44-year-old victim he's won the lottery and that he could afford to give them $1,000 from his bank account.
Over a two week period, the pair got the man to give them $24,000 in credit card cash advances.
