Fatal Crash On Southbound Interstate 5 In Elk Grove
ELK GROVE (CBS13) - A 25-year-old man died early Thursday after crashing head-on into a big rig on Interstate 5 south of Elk Grove, according to CHP.
The accident was reported at 5:18 a.m. CHP says the 25-year-old man from Antioch was travelling in the southbound lanes when he drifted into the northbound lanes into the path of a full loaded Safeway truck.
The BMW was ripped in half with the steering wheel landing 30 feet away. The BMW driver died at the scene. The driver of the Safeway truck was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
The Safeway truck had to be offloaded before it could be towed.
