Kings Fans Express, Frustration, Anger And Hope At Sleep Train Arena
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The Kings played their first home game since the Maloof family reached a deal to sell the team.
On a night when outside the arena looked a lot like Seattle, the light rain was steady. Inside it still looked and sounded very much like Sacramento.
The small but vocal crowd came with a message: the passion is still here for longtime fans, first timers, and as well as the city's team.
"Sacramento is the capital city of this great state. We need the Kings here," said one fan.
Fans who came out to see the Kings weren't too surprised to see the Maloofs' courtside seats empty again. Fans say it's just like their promises.
"They're crooks," said one fan. "You know they're not loyal."
They all had a message for the Maloofs.
"That can't be aired on TV," joked one fan.
What can be aired is the fans' frustration.
"Basically, yeah I'm tired of it," said one irritated fan. "I just want to know where they're going to go."
So on a night when the Suns came to town, storm clouds lingered, but fans looked for and found a silver lining.
There is no big money announcement yet, but the optimism has arrived.
"I know the Maloofs are going to find some way to mess up Seattle and we're going to keep the team," said one fan.
In keeping that hope alive, the best play of the night came from the DJ as he played Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" as fans shuffled out after the game.
