Family Of Slain Sacramento Man Asking For Help To Find Killer
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - On Sunday night, family members of a man gunned down in his driveway are asking for help to solve the mystery.
On February 29, Anthony Jordan of Sacramento was returning home to bring food to his family when he was murdered.
For the family of Anthony Jordan this Easter Sunday marks the first with out him, and a reminder of the answers they don't have.
"Today we were alone," said Maryanne Rodriguez.
Maryanne's Easter glee was replaced instead with the realization her brother, Anthony, is not here to celebrate.
"He was a good man; he would help anybody on the street," Maryanne.
But Anthony would be gunned down on his own street -- seemingly targeted. A neighbor found him lifeless, suffering multiple gunshot wounds in his driveway.
"He was helping my mom and relative to come home to bring food for his grandkids. And just to be executed…," said Rodriguez.
But more than a month later, Sacramento County sheriff's detectives say the case is quickly turning cold. The grandfather and father had run-ins with the law, but that was more than 10 years ago.
"Nothing. We don't know anything. The police said they dug into his past and there is nothing they could find because he didn't have enemies," said Maryanne'.
Instead, they he spent most his time in church, feeding the homeless and helping his mother.
"Now he's gone; now he never wanted to leave her and someone took him," said Maryanne'.
So as they hope for a break in the case, to help wrap their heads around why he's gone, they have questions for those responsible.
"We want to face the person that did this, we want ask him why, what could he have done to you there's nothing that we can imagine that he done to you to do this, nothing," said Maryanne'.
Anthony leaves behind a son and two grandchildren. Detectives say without help from the public, this case may go unsolved.
