Fairfield Resident Dies After Being Shot Near Aparment Complex

FAIRFIELD (CBS13) - One person was shot near an apartment complex in Fairfield late Wednesday night and later died.

Police received multiple calls at around 10 p.m. complaining of a loud fight and possible gunshots in the 2300 block of Peach Tree Drive. Officers at the scene say they found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to the hospital where doctors worked into the morning hours, but the victim died.

A police investigation reveals that during a fight between the victim and several other people, shots were fired -- one hitting the victim. The group then scattered.

The victim is identified only as a 36-year-old Fairfield resident.
