Fairfield Road Reopens After Fatal Collision | UPDATE

FAIRFIELD (CBS13) — One man is dead after being hit by a car in Fairfield early Friday morning.

Friday morning, around 6:23 a.m., the Fairfield Police Department responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash report in the 2200 block of North Texas Street.

Per a news release, when officers arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from major injuries. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle driver that hit the man remained on the scene and cooperated with the police.

According to police, there is no evidence of impairment or speed playing a part in the collision.

The Fairfield Police Department has a full road closure in place due to heavy police activity.

According to a news release, an active investigation within the 2200 block of N Texas St between Pacific Ave. and Alaska Ave. has begun after a major injury collision.

An investigation is underway and police ask that travelers avoid the area.
