Fairfield Murder Victim Remembered As Investigation Continues

FAIRFIELD, Calif. (CBS13) -- The family and friends of a woman who was murdered more than a year ago remembered what would have been her 26th birthday as investigators continue to search for her killer.

Phuong Le disappeared from a Fairfield bookstore in April 2010, just a few days before her birthday, and was found dead two weeks later along the side of a rural Napa County road.

Loved ones and coworkers gathered Saturday at the Fairfield nursing school where she graduated to memorialize her birthday and celebrate her life, even if it's hard to move on with a murderer on the loose.

"I just want to find out why he killed my sister," said Huong Le, the victim's brother. "Very sweet, young innocent girl, don't know why anyone would want to take her life."

Police have not made any arrests or named any suspects in the case. There is still a significant amount of evidence yet to be analyzed, but the case is still a priority, according to Fairfield Police Officer Cleo Mayoral.

"Some of the forensics being handled by state, federal agencies, the process can take a while," Mayoral said. "We will not stop until we identify a suspect."

Huong Le said he contacts the main detective on the case often and believes police will solve the case.
