Fairfield Man Shot Outside Apartment Complex
FAIRFIELD (CBS13) -- A 24-year-old man was shot and a middle school was briefly shut down shortly before noon on Tuesday, according to Fairfield police.
Police officers responded to reports of a man being shot in his apartment complex in the 2300 block of Fairfield Avenue at 11:50 a.m. The victim was transported to Northbay Medical Center by his girlfriend as officers arrived on the scene.
The victim suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his lower back and abdomen.
He said he was shot by someone he didn't know outside his apartment for unknown reasons. He described the shooter as Hispanic or Middle Eastern, in his 20s, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a thin build and goatee. He was reportedly wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
Sullivan Middle School was briefly locked down during the search for the suspect, which was unsuccessful.
