Ex-Surgeon Faces Victims At Molestation Sentencing
STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) -- A former California plastic surgeon accused of molesting three dozen female patients is heading to state prison after being berated by his victims in court.
Peter Chi faced the fury of his victims in San Joaquin County Superior Court Monday before a judge sentenced him to spend six years in state prison and register as a sex offender.
The Stockton Record reports that one woman told the judge that Chi "mutilated not only my body but my spirit." Chi said nothing in court before he was placed in handcuffs and escorted away.
As part of a plea deal in December, Chi pleaded guilty to 36 counts of felony sexual battery by fraud.
Most of the patients filed civil lawsuits against Chi, and he settled for $1.8 million in May.
