Valley Fire Grows To 50,000 Acres; No Containment By Firefighters
COBB (CBS13) – Firefighters are battling a quickly growing fire in Lake County that has injured several fire personnel.
The Valley Fire was first reported around 1:30 Saturday afternoon near High Valley and Bottle Rock Roads in the community of Cobb. It is moving southeast from Cobb towards Middletown and Hidden Valley Lake, firefighters say.
Cal Fire says four firefighters have been transported to the hospital after they were burned during the initial attack on the Valley Fire. The four suffered second-degree burns and are in stable condition at the UC Davis Medical Center.
By Sunday morning, Cal Fire announced that the fire had burned 50,000 acres. About 5,000 homes were reportedly left without power.
On Sunday the town ravaged the town of Middletown, destroying at least one apartment building, while a playground and other structures stood untouched nearby.
Evacuations are in place for the following areas (as of Sunday morning):
Point Lakeview to Soda Bay (Highway 281). Highway 29 (Kelseyville) at Highway 175 south on Highway 175 towards Cobb, Red Hills Road to Highway 29, Highway 29 at Highway 175 south to Seigler Canyon Road (south side of Hwy 29), Highway 29 Tubbs Lane (Calistoga, Napa County) to Highway 29/Highway 53 (Lower Lake, Lake County) Butts Canyon Road to Napa County Line, including Berreyssa Estates, Butts Canyon Road to Pope Valley. Communities of Cobb, Seigler Canyon, Loch Lomond, Middletown and Hidden Valley Lakes.
Advisory Evacuation:
Livermore Road, Summit Lake Road and north of the community of Angwin.
Evacuation Centers:
Kelseyville Presbyterian Church in Kelseyville and Napa County Fairgrounds in Calistoga.
Cal Fire has not released any official numbers on structures that have burned.
Lake County OES said to call 1-800-325-9604 to be connected to resources.
