Evacuations Lifted For Residents Living Near Calaveras County Fire
SAN ANDREAS, Calif. (AP) — Residents forced to evacuate because of a small wildfire in Central California have been allowed to return to their homes.
Officials said the 100-acre fire in Calaveras County was 70 percent contained as of Monday morning. The evacuation order was lifted the previous night after a couple of hours.
It was not clear how many homes were evacuated.
The fire south of San Andreas began around 12:30 p.m. Sunday and destroyed one outbuilding. About 300 firefighters were called in to battle the blaze.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
