Empty Roseville Land With Tractor Could Be Future Home Of Sunsplash Parking Lot
ROSEVILLE (CBS13) — It's one of the busiest intersections in Placer County, but one viewer is wondering why an undeveloped piece of land has an old rusty tractor sitting in the field.
It's one of the first images drivers see leaving Interstate 80 at the Eureka-Taylor exit to go into East Roseville—an old tractor, rusty chain and all, and tarps covering mounds of dirt.
CBS13 viewer and Roseville resident Brandon Klein says the image that portrays is for the birds.
"I've always just wondered why the tractor was here and the tarps—and it just doesn't portray the city very nicely because it looks like it's just deserted," he said.
The land is owned by Golfland-Sunsplash just across the way, and general manager Steve Rogers says the land they bought a year ago will some day be turned into a parking lot to accommodate large summer crowds.
He says the dirt mounds under the tarps will be smoother out soon, and they hope to get rid of the tractor.
We told Klein the answer, but he was concerned about one aspect of building a parking lot across a busy stretch of road.
"The concern is how are they gonna get across this busy street, so I'm sure they'll have to figure that out," he said.
The city of Roseville said that would be one issue Golfland-Sunsplash would need to address. Currently the city is working with the landowners to make sure the area is zoned correctly for the proposed project.
