Elk Grove Man Suspected In Deadly Neb. DWI
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- The driver of a semi involved in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Lincoln has been arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Nebraska State Patrol spokeswoman Deb Collins told KOLN-TV that the rig rear-ended a pickup about 8 p.m. Saturday, sending both vehicles into a concrete barrier in the middle of the highway and taking down a light pole. Several other vehicles crashed as a result, with five people taken to hospitals.
Collins says the driver of the semi, 46-year-old man from Elk Grove, Calif., was taken to the Lancaster County jail. He was released Sunday.
Online court records available Sunday didn't reflect a charge against him.
A hospital spokesperson says one of the crash victims remained hospitalized Sunday in serious condition.
