Elk Grove Considers Its Own Entertainment And Sports Center
ELK GROVE (CBS13) — Elk Grove is considering building a new entertainment and sports center within its city limits.
Residents CBS13 spoke to at a jam-packed grand opening of a new Smart & Final in Elk Grove said they were excited about the idea of the center, saying the city needs the buzz and economic boost for businesses and residents.
According to the city manager, the Sacramento Area Event Facility Group first approached Elk Grove about the possibility of developing the venue. They can't say what the focus for it will be just yet, but the exclusive negotiating agreement partners the city and company to move forward with the plan.
Even with a new downtown arena for the Sacramento Kings under construction nearby, Elk Grove officials are confident there will be room for another complex.
The city says there is no cost to the agreement and that either party can end the deal with 180 days notice.
The agreement goes until 2020.
