PG&E Crews Continue To Restore Power In Foothills
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- Thousands of foothills residents are still in the dark tonight, forced to spend Thanksgiving night bundled up in the dark.
Thanksgiving was a frigid feast for many families in the foothills spending another day without power. A lot of families had to adjust their Thanksgiving Day plans.
For one family we spoke to earlier this week, Thanksgiving probably felt more like camping, but they were hopeful holiday cheer would get them through this ordeal.
"We're just going to do the best we can we know we are fortunate to have what we have because there are people who don't have anything," said Kelly.
It's certainly not the way anyone wants to spend thanksgiving. Meantime, in Nevada City town there might be a silver lining: what its been doing to business.
It has been a busy week and not from the tourists. PG&E crews filled the hotels and locals without power in for a meal.
Nevada City resident, Shara Arnoldi, says despite the inconvenience, she has learned something about herself -- and just in time for Thanksgiving.
"You don't even think about feeling sorry for yourself in these situations because there are things out there a lot worse than this," said Shara.
It looks like the end of this Thanksgiving Day will brighten up for some Nevada City families. PG&E says as many as 400 customers had their power turned back on in just the past few minutes.
PG&E crews are working diligently to restore power. As of 9 p.m. Thursday, power outages by county are as follows:
Nevada County: 750 total
- 677 in Nevada City
- 12 in Grass Valley
El Dorado County: 1
Placer County: 1
Sierra County: 21
Yuba County: 192
Calaveras and Amador County: 1300 total
- 1500 in Pioneer
- 250 in Arnold
PG&E expects to have 300-450 customers restored in Nevada City by 10 p.m. tonight.
