2 people found dead after fire at El Dorado County residence, sheriff's office says
EL DORADO COUNTY – Authorities are investigating after two people were found dead after a home caught fire near Somerset early Wednesday morning.
The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office says first responders were called to the scene near Mt. Aukum Road and Somerset Drive just before 4 a.m. for a structure fire.
Firefighters from the Pioneer Fire Protection District and Cal Fire were among the crews who responded. The flames were put out, but the sheriff's office says two people were then found dead inside the home.
No details about the people who were found dead have been released by authorities.
Exactly what started the fire is also still under investigation, the sheriff's office says.
The incident happened about four miles south of the El Dorado County community of Somerset, which is also a little over 10 miles southeast of Placerville.
