El Dorado County correctional officer accused of having sexual relations with inmate
PLACERVILLE — An El Dorado County correctional officer was arrested on accusations he had sexual relations with an inmate, authorities said Friday.
A spokesperson for the county Sheriff's Office said investigators recently became aware of consensual sexual relations between 24-year-old Officer Michael Griffiths, IV, and an inmate and began looking into the matter immediately.
Griffiths was arrested on Friday and booked into the county jail in Placerville, where he faces one count of sex with an adult detained in a detention facility, the sheriff's office said.
Bail was set at $50,000. Griffiths has been placed on administrative leave, officials said.
