Earthquake With 4.1 Magnitude Hits Near San Jose

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Two aftershocks were reported after an earthquake jolted San Jose and the surrounding region.

The U.S. Geological Survey says a quake with a magnitude of 4.1 hit about 13 miles southeast of downtown San Jose around 4:10 p.m. Friday.

Though the quake was strong enough to be felt in San Francisco, 60 miles to the north, San Jose police say there were no reports of damage or injuries.

U.S.G.S. geophysicist Shengzao Chen says two aftershocks were felt within 11 minutes of the quake, one with a magnitude 2.6 and then another aftershock with a 2.1 magnitude.
