Driver Trapped In SUV After Collision With Street Sweeper
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Fire fighters worked more than an hour to free a driver who was trapped after his SUV and a street sweeper slammed into each other in an early morning accident.
The crash happened just after 4 a.m. on Cottage Way and Howe Avenue. CHP says the BMW SUV slammed into the back of the street sweeper.
The impact was so loud that residents of a nearby apartment complex heard it. One woman who attempted to help the driver said he looked terrible and had a large, wide-open gash on his arm.
Fire fighters had to use special equipment to free the driver who was screaming in pain at points but was able to communicate with his rescuers.
After about an hour, they freed the man and rushed him to the hospital.
