Video Released Of Seconds Before Fatal Wrong-Way Crash On I-80
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Authorities have identified the driver in Tuesday's wrong-way crash that killed three people.
California Highway Patrol says 42-year-old Sergey Masalov was the man driving the wrong way on Interstate 80 early that morning. Masalov killed two other men – 25-year-old Zahid Arshad and 24-year-old Nicholas Sharma – when his pickup slammed head-on into their car.
Masalov himself was killed in the crash.
Thursday, CHP also released video they've obtained from a driver whose dashcam captured the Masalov's pickup going the wrong way. The video shows the seconds right before the crash.

Tuesday's crash was the fourth in fatal wrong-way driver crash in the Sacramento region since the beginning of the year.
- In January, three people, including two teens were killed when police say a drunk driver hit them head-on on Interstate 80.
- In April, a wrong-way driver traveled more than five miles in the wrong direction on Highway 50 before crashing into a truck, killing all four people involved. The 19-year-old driver, Elizabet Torres-Zela had a blood-alcohol level of .20.
- And earlier this month, a mother and her two daughters were among the four dead in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 505 in Arbuckle.
It is still unclear why Masalov was going the wrong way.
