Donnelly's Wife Not Worried About Loaded Gun In Husband's Briefcase
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The wife of a state lawmaker says she is not concerned that her husband endangered his family by having a loaded handgun in his briefcase because all their children know how to handle firearms.
Assemblyman Tim Donnelly was cited with a misdemeanor after airport screeners spotted the gun as he was trying to board a flight this week. Donnelly explained then that he began carrying the gun after receiving death threats and hid it in his briefcase so his wife would not be alarmed.
Rowena Donnelly told The Associated Press on Friday that she would have questioned her husband about the gun but says all the couple's sons can handle guns safely.
Had they found the gun, she says they would have told their father, "Hey Dad, your gun's out."
