Donations To Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign Down 21% In Sacramento
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The Salvation Army reports donations it receives through its annual red kettle campaign are down in 2013.
Donations in the Sacramento area to the Salvation Army are down 21 percent compared to 2012, due to Thanksgiving being five days later this year, according to a statement made by the organization.
"I am very concerned about the lost kettle days this year and how this will impact our ability to help those who are hurting," said Major Bill Dickinson, Salvation Army Del Oro Division Divisional Commander.
Money collected by the Salvation Army buys things like meals and shelters for families in need. You can donate at one of the many local retail locations with the red kettle or online at www.gosalarmy.org.
