Dogs Killed, Residents Hurt In House Fire
RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. (CBS13) -- Two pets were killed and two residents were seriously hurt in an early morning fire, authorities said.
The Sacramento Metro Fire Department said the they responded to the victims' home on the 2500 block of Queenwood Drive just before 1:30 a.m. and found the structure already engulfed in flames.
A Sacramento Coutny Sheriff's deputy and a neighbor had helped a man and a woman escape the burning home, and the victims were transported to the UC Davis Medical Center with serious smoke and thermal injuries.
Two dogs were unable to escape the home.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury while responding to the blaze.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
