Disney Will Allow Some Theme Park Workers To Grow Beards, Goatees
ANAHEIM (CBS) — Some employees at Disney theme parks are about to get hairier.
Starting on Feb. 3, male staffers will be allowed to sport facial hair while working for the first time in 60 years, according to Inside the Magic, a blog that covers all-things Disney.
The new grooming rule applies to most costumed and non-costumed employees.
"As with mustaches, all facial hair (beards, goatees, mustaches) must create an overall neat, polished and professional look and must be fully grown in, neatly groomed and well-maintained at no longer than a quarter of an inch in length," Disney said in a company notice.
Previously, the company barred cast members from growing beards and goatees to preserve the "Disney Look."
Cast members without facial hair are still expected to be clean-shaven every day.
