Disabilities Help Push Man To Take On Extreme Challenges
TRACY (CBS13) – At 36-years-old, Chris Koch is up for anything. Today, it's getting ready for the Great American Hero Obstacle Challenge.
Bungee jumping is next and his bucket list doesn't stop there.
"I would really like to trek up all the way to [Mt. Everest] as a major fundraiser for the people of Nepal," Koch said.
His goal is to raise money for the disabled in Nepal. Koch himself was born without arms or legs, but never let being different change his lifestyle.
"I learned how to ski when I was five, snowboarding at nine. Soccer, baseball, street hockey, all that stuff," Koch said.
Born to athletic parents who love sports, Koch was never discouraged from trying anything.
"As I got older I kept pushing myself a little more and a little more," Koch said.
Now as an adult, the sky's the limit.
"Definitely in the last eight years I've ramped up the traveling, pushing myself to do better things," Koch said.
He's taking on mental and physical feats all over the world.
"I was a normal kid. There were times I probably didn't even realize I didn't have arms and legs, I just went along with my daily life," Koch said.
Now he's being filmed for a documentary called "If I Can," focusing on positive stories that celebrate and elevate the human experience.
His remarkable journey is an inspiration to so many already.
"It's such an amazing feeling to share my story and push people to get out of their comfort zones and not get complacent in their lives," Koch said.
