Delay In Trial For Stockton Bank Robbery Suspects Upsetting To Victim's Family
STOCKTON (CBS13) - It was an emotional and frustrating day in court for the family of the woman killed in last year's bank robbery and shootout in Stockton.
Monday's hearing was supposed to set a trial date and decide whether suspects Jaime Ramos and Ruvalcaba should face the death penalty, but neither of those things happened.
"My daughter was killed execution-style and they deserve nothing less. That's how I feel," said the mother of victim Misty Hold-Singh. "They have no rights. They have not rights at all. Their girlfriends sit in there kissing and waving. They should be taken off to jail."
Robbery and shootout suspect Ramos, along with Ruvalcaba, who's accused of being the driver in the robbery, were in court this morning.
The prosecution says it hasn't decided whether they would seek the death penalty against the two, therefore there was no trial date set.
Misty Holt-Singh died in the shootout when the suspects allegedly used her as a shield. Today outside court, Singh's mother was asked if she's frustrated by the delays in the case.
"Yes I am. Yes I am. My other daughter is the hospital dying of cancer and these hoodlums took my baby. Cancer has taken my other daughter so no, I'm not happy," she said.
The next hearing to discuss a trial date has been set for June 8.
