Dead Humpback Whale Washes Up On Santa Cruz County Beach
WATSONVILLE, Calif. - The body of a young humpback whale washed up on a beach in Santa Cruz County Friday morning.
A woman who lives in the area told KION-TV she saw the whale offshore Thursday night. At that time, lifeguards told police the whale was likely dead. The 27-foot animal later washed up at Sunset State Beach in Watsonville, according to a statement from California State Parks.
Biologists were expected perform a necropsy on the whale Friday afternoon.
