Davis Police Release Surveillance Video In Attempted Sex Assault Case

DAVIS (CBS13) — Davis police released new surveillance video related to an attempted sexual assault case from earlier this week.

The attempted sex crime happened on the 1800 block of Birch Lane around midnight on Monday. Davis Police say a woman parked her car on Birch Avenue and was walking to the front door when a man attacked her from behind. The suspect took off after the woman began screaming.

On Thursday, police released video of a man walking in the area approximately 30 minutes before the reported incident.

The Davis PD is continuing its investigation into an attempted sex crime that occurred on the 1800 block of Birch Lane around midnight on January 20, 2020. We are asking the media and our community for assistance in this matter. A video-recording surfaced that depicts a male person allegedly walking in the area about 30 minutes prior to the incident. This person is not a suspect of any crime, but we would like for them to come forward in the hopes that we learn more about this case. We would also like to speak to people who might be able to identify the man in the video. Investigators say the person is not a suspect, but they would like to talk to him about the case.
