Davis Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested
DAVIS (CBS13) — A 29-year-old Humboldt County man was arrested Thursday after a Chase Bank in Davis was robbed.
Paul Michael Schmeer entered the downtown bank at 330 E Street and passed a note to one of the tellers demanding money. The note said the man was armed with a gun but no weapon was ever displayed or seen by bank employees, police said.
Schmeer left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, and a bank employee followed him out to his car, police said. That employee then gave Davis police a suspect and vehicle description.
According to police, an officer working routine patrol heard the bank robbery call and spotted the car leaving the Davis area. The patrol officer followed the vehicle to West Sacramento and initiated a vehicle stop. Schmeer surrendered without incident.
Schmeer was booked into the Yolo County Jail for robbery. No one was injured in the incident.
