Cyber Monday: FedEx Ready For Company's Busiest Day Of The Year
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A Sacramento FedEx shipping center will deliver around 10,000 packages on Cyber Monday, and it could make history for the company.
A good sign that all the packages are going to be delivered, the conveyor belts have stopped and most of the trucks are out of the Natomas distribution center.
"It's a all hands on deck kind of day," said operation manager William Vanderveen.
Around 500 FedEx employees in the Sacramento region are ready for the busiest shipping day of the year -- Cyber Monday.
"During this time of season, we're all used to it now. This is our peak season and we become junior Santa Clauses out there for the packages that are coming in," said courier Matthew Nelson.
FedEx says it expects to see its busiest day in company history today, pushing out over 22 million shipments around the world.
"Every day for us is a golden package. Every package is treated as a golden package, but for Christmas time we are especially aware that every package needs to get to the right place at the right time," said Nelson.
FedEx in Sacramento says it has been ramping up for its version of the Super Bowl for quite some time.
"We work hard planning for this day all through the year. We put our plans in place, figure out what we're going to do special, putting extra routes on road," said Vanderveen.
FedEx says if you receive one of its door tags on your front door, simply put your initials or sign it in the orange box and a courier will be able to deliver your package. The company also said to make sure to have your dog be behind the fence or in a closed area -- somewhere it cannot get to one of the couriers.
To avoid stolen packages, the company says you can use the new FedEx delivery manager option online.
