Crozier Fire in El Dorado County prompts evacuation orders
EL DORADO COUNTY – Evacuation orders have expanded in El Dorado County Wednesday evening as the Crozier Fire continues to burn.
The fire started just after 1:20 a.m., northwest of Slate Mountain in the Eldorado National Forest.
Cal Fire reports that the fire has grown to 571 acres with 5% containment as of Wednesday night.
The fire is burning in a remote area with heavy timber and thick brush. Crews have reported hot temperatures, breezes and low humidities have caused elevated fire activity.
Exactly what started the fire is under investigation, Cal Fire says.
