Criminals Targeting Businesses In Roseville
ROSEVILLE (CBS13) - Brazen criminals are targeting Roseville businesses. Workers at the Outback restaurant say the robbers made sure they couldn't get away or call police.
"He basically just got the cash that we had in this register right here," said Roseville business owner Matt Perry.
Lately it's almost become expected in one part of Roseville.
"You don't think it's going to happen to you, but it does," said Perry.
Business owners are becoming victims of burglary, but more of them taking on a proactive approach and are becoming even more aware of who is in and out of their stores.
"These cameras have infrared," said Perry.
At midnight Sunday workers were ready to close the doors of Outback restaurant when two or three men with stockings over their faces tied them up, cut phone lines and smashed the employees' cell phones before taking off with the money in a safe. One of criminals was armed with a gun.
"That's taking it pretty far, and they're pretty brazen. You don't know what they're going to do next," said Squeeze Inn employee Charles.
Then yesterday, just under a half a mile away from Outback, at 4:30 a.m., one man walked into a McDonalds restaurant and robbed the employees who were opening up the restaurant. Police say he cut the phone lines, and because of that, investigators are looking into whether the two robberies are related.
Roseville managers are now reminding their employees to practice safety procedures more than ever. A source close to Outback says that many workers have been told they must
wear hidden panic buttons that connect them to police with one press of the button.
"Because something can happen, you never know when. Crime doesn't
Discriminate," said Charles
