1 Dead, 1 Hurt In Shooting Outside Midtown Sacramento Bar
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — One man is dead and another man was hurt in an early morning shooting outside a Midtown Sacramento bar.
Sacramento police say the shooting happened a little after 1 a.m. in the Patio area of Costanza's near 21st and L streets.
Officers confirmed that two men suffered at least one gunshot wound in the shooting. One of the men was later pronounced dead at the hospital; the other man hurt is expected to survive.
David Higginbotham says he was heading home just before the shooting.
"I was coming down 21st, saw two guys running the opposite that I was coming," he said.
In surveillance video obtained by CBS13, a total of 6 gunshots could be heard followed by screaming in the distance. The shooting has neighbors wondering why a disagreement ended with someone getting killed.
"Especially people that are drinking, you hear about them in bars they have an altercation and somebody takes out a gun and I'm thinking, 'Oh my God, and you've been drinking, that can't end well,' " one woman said.
"Especially at a bar, especially in Midtown, you know, it's just, there's other ways to resolve conflict and shooting is definitely not one way," Higginbotham said.
No motive has been identified at this point, but investigators believe some sort of altercation happened just before the shooting.
Investigators say there is no suspect information to release at this time.
Police say the area near 21st and L streets will be closed due to the investigation through most of the morning.
