Construction Worker Knocks Down Power Line In Rancho Cordova
RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) -- Power was cut to several customers in Rancho Cordova Wednesday after a power line was accidentally cut by a construction worker.
A construction worker was working on a drainage ditch on Folsom Boulevard with an excavator when the arm of the tractor snagged a power line, pulling it down and snapping a nearby power pole. The lines fell down onto the vehicle making it a potentially deadly situation. The worker was unable to leave the tractor for an hour until utility crews arrived and were able to shut off power to the wires.
Witnesses say the accident caused a lot of sparking from the lines.
Construction on the ditch has resumed.
Folsom Boulevard was closed while crews removed the wires.
