UPDATE: The internet has been speculating whether McGregor's tweet is real or not. According to Punditarena.com, several MMA journalist are confirming the tweet as real.
Reporter Ariel Helwani stated that sources have stated the news to be true.
Multiple sources are adamant at this time that McGregor's tweet isn't a joke, troll job or hoax of any kind. Reason(s) behind it is unclear.

The notorious fighter went to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to announce his retirement from the sport.
I have decided to retire young.

The news is nothing short of surprising.
McGregor had recently came off a loss to Stockton's own Nate Diaz at UFC 196. A rematch between the Irishman and Diaz is scheduled for July 9 in Las Vegas at UFC 200.
