Company Moving Manufacturing From China To Placer County
ROCKLIN (CBS13) – A Placer County company's products will no longer say "Made in China" and instead will proudly tout the "Made In The USA" label.
Rocklin-based Gutterglove, Inc. says it is moving its gutter guard manufacturing from China back to California. A move the company says will bring millions of dollars to the state and create new jobs.
Gutterglove founder Robert Lenney also says he hopes the move will set an example for other manufacturers to follow.
Lenney says he moved the manufacturing to China in 2006 when it became too expensive to make the gutter guards in the United States and remain competitive.
But last year, Lenney says he began looking at US manufacturers again in order to sell to the US military which is required to purchase items "Made in the USA" in most circumstances.
He found that US costs had decreased dramatically allowing him to move manufacturing back to California, specifically Rocklin.
"Gutterglove is to be applauded for this decision and all levels of government should support them in every way possible to ensure their success," said David Snyder, the Director of Economic Development for the County of Placer.
Gutterglove was founded in 1996 and is located in Rocklin.
