Company Creates 6-Foot-High Pizza Vending Machine
LOS ANGELES, Cali. (CBS Sacramento) – The company that created Burritobox now brings you Pizzabox.
Pizzabox is a six-foot tall vending machine that dispenses fresh, hot pizza.
A 10-inch pizza will cost $5. It uses an 800-degree oven, so the pizza only takes 90 seconds; a knife, fork, parmesan cheese, oregano, red pepper, a wet towelette, and a napkin are all included.
"The experience can only be compared to chef pulling a pizza out of the oven in the kitchen of a restaurant," Denis Koci, founder of parent company The Box Brands, told Crave. "It's impossible to eat as the cheese is still very melty, the crust is browned, and pizza in general is piping hot. You must let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes, which is perfect if you're taking it on the go."
The vending machine will have live video-chat customer service, which will first be introduced on the Burritobox.
"The only thing separating us from a fast-foot restaurant is customer service, and going forward all of our machines will have a friendly face ready to talk to consumers if they have any questions," Koci added. "Our machines work identical to most fast-food restaurants and now we will have the same service for customers, no 1-800 numbers."
The Pizzabox is still currently being tested but the target goal is to release the vending machines sometime in early 2015.
"We are initially launching it as the first-ever drive-through pizza experience," Koci said.
The University of Southern California will be the first spot.
