Commemorative Ax Stolen From Woodland Fire Museum
WOODLAND (CBS13) - The Woodland Fire Museum was burglarized, and now officials are questioning what the thieves were really after.
Thieves entered through the back door sometime between Wednesday and Sunday of last week, taking an antique ax dedicated to Homer Cook for 50 years of volunteer service.
"As far as the value of the loss there's not much in monetary, in memory it's a big loss to Woodland," said Woodland Fire Volunteer Support Branch President Neal Peart.
Peart says they will be able to replace the ax.
Officials say the burglars may have been after the brass parts of the old fire engines, which were on display at the Yolo County Fair at the time.
