Comedian Katt Williams Offers His Side On Hitting Woodland Target Employee
WOODLAND (CBS13) - A 19-year-old Woodland Target employee told CBS13 that comedian Micah "Katt" Williams punched him at work in an unprovoked attack, but Williams told a different story.
He gave a long, rambling interview to a Seattle TV station Monday after his most recent arrest these past few days - and the past for days for Williams were no joke.
"I've been kicked out of four hotels in two days," he said, "and I've been arrested by three different sets of officers."
Handcuffs have become a habit, but there were no apologies about what happened to the Target employee last month when Williams, 41, was in Sacramento for a show.
Security worker Forrest Liebenberg said Williams wanted to buy his personal motorcycle helmet.
"I had no idea who this guy was before," he said.
When the 19-year-old didn't sell, "he approached me, the argument got escalated, and that's when he hit me. I was in no way the aggressor. I never went up to him. "
But Williams tells it differently.
"The dude I hit in Target told me, and I'm going to self-censor myself, he said, 'If you didn't have your kids with you, I'd punch you in the face right now," he told the Seattle station. "All I said was, 'You won't punch me in front of my kids?' He said, 'Nah, I need you to hit me first so I can sue you after.'"
That's apparently when Williams went from delivering a punch line to landing a punch.
After the video leaked, Forrest lost his job Monday. Target would only say: "Out of respect for the privacy of this individual, we cannot discuss the reasons for his departure. However, we can confirm that his departure was unrelated to the video footage that has appeared online."
Apparently, all the off-stage activity has taken a toll on Katt. He said he's done doing comedy.
"I'm just going to go ahead and announce my retirement from stand-up," he said. "I'm kinda done."
He's got plenty to keep him busy. Williams faces charges in Yolo County for the Target incident, could be charged after reportedly fleeing from CHP in Sacramento and has also been arrested in Oakland and Seattle, all in the past few weeks. He's also facing a couple of civil lawsuits.
