Colfax Parents Reunite With Children Following School Lockdown
COLFAX (CBS13) – Authorities Colfax Elementary School and Colfax High School went on lockdown for over two hours Wednesday afternoon after a report of an armed man near campus.
The report originated from three first graders who allegedly saw an man armed with guns on a soccer field, walking in the direction of the elementary school, Placer County Sheriff's Department Lt. John Peretti told CBS13.
No reports of shots fired or of any injuries ever came down.
Deputies from the Placer county Sheriff's Department, the California Highway Patrol and units from Cal Fire responded to the scene. Units went room to room at each school, looking for any possible threats. Students have been in the same rooms since the lock down was put in place, around 12:15 p.m.
The first graders reported seeing a man dressed in black clothing, wearing a mask and carrying two guns, Peretti said.
A little after 2:30 p.m., Placer County Sheriff's officials announced that nothing was found at the schools and the lockdown was lifted.
