Citrus Heights Parents Asking Why School Remains Closed

CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) -- It's been three weeks since Citrus Heights Police closed a school after allegations surfaced that its principal, Bob Adams, allegedly molested students. Police still haven't charged Adams with a crime, and now parents are starting to ask whether investigators will have any real evidence.

Adams' supporters are not staying quiet about his arrest. They've posted signs at their school and say police are looking for anything to back the allegations.

"There's been no arrest. I haven't heard anything and the school is still closed," said Creative Frontiers parent Stacy Shermak.

With each passing day, many parents say it becomes apparent police can't prove allegations that Creative Frontiers principal Bob Adams touched at least 10 students over several years.

Supporters have found comfort with each other on the school's Facebook page and question question whether police are desperate in this case. They claim detectives made random calls to parents in an effort to find more victims.

One mother, Elizabeth Sean Johnson, wrote yesterday:

"I asked him point blank if there was MORE than we know, he of course said, "I can't tell you that." But then claimed I was calling him a liar when I said that I felt he was trying to trick me and lead me to make false assumptions. I don't know if they have someone else waiting in the wings or not, but it really seemed like they are doing anything they can to cover their behinds and come up with something more substantial than the foundless garbage they have now.

"They don't have enough to file formal charges against him and he still sits at home mourning the loss of his school," said parent Theresa Delbaggio.

In an interview with CBS13, a Citrus Heights police spokesman said the investigation against Adams is very active, extremely detailed and that investigators would take their time.

"Then why shut down the school?" asked Shermak. "Remove the person you're investigating from the school; let the school continue to be open."

The school may have the opportunity to reopen. They have an appeal hearing on August 18. A few days later, the school's daycare will also have a hearing.
