Citrus Heights Man Denies He Tried To Impersonate A Police Officer
CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) — A Citrus Heights man arrested for impersonating a peace officer is speaking out about the charge he's facing.
Rancho Cordova Police say Shane Jack was caught with a fake badge, a fake gun, and handcuffs. Police say Jack presented himself as a peace officer to a private security guard.
Officers also took a photo showing what appeared to be a police light on the top of his truck's roof.
"We don't know ultimately what this suspects intentions were, how long he has been purporting to be a police officer," Lt. Jason Ramos said.
CBS13's Steve Large caught up with Jack after he was released from jail, as he watered his front lawn.
"Did you impersonate an officer," Large asked. "Absolutely not," Jack said.
Jack says he had a plastic badge in his truck that his 9-year-old daughter was given at a community event.
Rancho Cordova Police also took a photo of his truck with what looks like a police light on it.
Police say inside the truck they found a fake badge, a walkie-talkie, handcuffs, and a replica fire-arm.
Jack said he had no replica firearm. He wouldn't discuss the other items.
Jack is charged with impersonating a peace officer and unlawfully altering an imitation firearm.
