SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) -- California Highway Patrol Officers are looking for a man accused of crashing a vehicle and fleeing from the scene that left two people dead just after 8:30 Wednesday night.

Investigators say 22 year old Valentino Alvarez was driving from a family gathering with three family members inside on Hood-Franklin Road when he hit a timber truck.  The impact killed two women and sent a man to an area hospital with major injuries.

Officers say after the impact Alvarez fled the scene and flagged down another motorist who gave Alvarez a ride to a home in the town of Hood. CHP officers searched in and around the town of Hood with help from a helicopter but have been unable to locate Alvarez.

Officers say Alvarez was also injured in the crash and are asking for the public's help in finding him. They ask anyone who may see him to call law enforcement immediately.

Alvarez has at least one previous arrest although officers wouldn't disclose what he has been arrested for.

The exact cause of the crash and what may have led Alvarez to flee are still under investigation but officers say Alvarez was travelling at a high rate of speed when the crashed happened.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
