CHP Car Crashes Into Hayward Home

HAYWARD (CBS) – A California Highway Patrol cruiser enend up on the front porch of a Hayward home Tuesday after a chase through residential Hayward.

CHP officers were following a suspect on Cottage Park Drive around 10:30 a.m. when the silver sedan they were pursuing attempted to ram the cruiser, sending the officers sideways into the home, according to officers on the scene.

The suspect then tried to run away, but was caught by Hayward Police.

The home was unoccupied at the time of the crash, and the cruiser did not break through the exterior walls.

One CHP officer was taken to the hospital with a head injury.
